AEB: Russian car, LCV sales rise 11% to 156,351 units in June

MOSCOW, Jul 5 (PRIME) – Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose 10.8% on the year to 156,351 vehicles in June, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Thursday.

In January–June, sales of cars and LCVs rose 18.2% to 849,221 units.

“Pace of market recovery in June softened somewhat relative to what we have seen so far this year. Still, nearly 11% year-on-year improvement is a very respectable result, especially in the light of the ongoing world cup event in Russia,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

“In addition, thanks to strong sales in the preceding months, vehicle inventories are rather lean across the industry, dampening sales growth if only temporarily.”

Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ grew 15% on the year to 31,404 cars in June and 21% to 169,884 units in January–June.
